The Newcastle light rail project aims to revitalize Newcastle’s current transportation and introduces a 2.7km light rail track featuring six stops. This light rail track will center on the new transport interchange at Wickham and will continue as far as Pacific Park. In order to allow the roads to function effectively once this is introduced, key intersections will be reconfigured, surrounding roads will be upgraded and changes will be made to the bus and parking arrangements. This system aims to reduce congestion in Newcastle and provide a frequent and reliable transport alternative throughout the city, as well as create employment opportunities, and provide more public space.
