Project Description
The total length of “Arbri Road” is 75 km. This represents the shortest route from Tirana to Debar, Tetovo, Skopje going beyond, in the Republic of Macedonia and also the shortest route to Bulgaria and Romania and beyond. The road on the existing track from Tirana to Bulqiza is 125 km long, while Tirana-Bllata is 160 km. According to the Arbër Road track, the same destinations have respectively 50 km and 74.5 km distances, offering a distance of about 2.5 times shorter. Taking into account the possibilities offered by Arbër Road for a more direct road alignment with less curves and ups and downs, then Tirana-Bulqiza and Tirana-Bllata time distances are furthermore shortened more than 2.5 times (time distance can be shortened up to 4 times compared to today's roadside use). To recapitulate, the Arber Road is: (i) fully completed for 20.12 km, (ii) partially completed for 15,175 km, and (iii) there are existing designs for 26,372 km of main roads. In total there are projects for 61.667 km of main roads (C3 Standard), of which 26.372 km are not tendered for the construction works. According to the relevant Fesibility Study of 2005, the entire road Tiranë - Bllatë is expected to be about 73.5 km long, which means that in toal there are 11.8 km of road not yet designed (road length of connection of Tirana suburbs with Arberi Road, plus the one connecting the end of Arber Road with Bllata cross border with Macedonia).
