. Remedy passenger and Ro-Pax vessel traffic congestion at the port of la Goulette, where berth extension is impossible.
. The traffic of cars and trucks is expected to grow at a sustainable pace of 2% per year over the next ten years thereby exceeding the capacity of la Goulette by 100,000 cars and 30,000 trucks p.a. by the year 2028
. Optimization and savings on energy and fuel expenditure notably by reducing the crossing time of the Mediterranean Sea by 3 hours and by reducing the traffic through the capital city.
. Bizerte will be the nearest Ro-Pax port to Europe. Location is favorable with deep water and ample potential space to develop the new terminal.
. Strengthen the hinterland of the port of Bizerte and the economic synergy with the territories.
