The Ministry of Transport and Public Works of Ecuador, due to the great importance of the Maritime Port of the city of Guayaquil, has decided to promote a solution to the traffic that the current road-connection generates at the South of the city of Guayaquil. This solution will provide a link to the the roads coming from the North of the country through the "Duran - Yahuachi highway" and those coming from the South of the country trough the "Durán – El Triunfo; Km 26 – Puerto Inca; Naranjal – Molleturo – Cuenca; Naranjal – El Guabo – Machala" highways. Also, this solution will lead to the close of the road-ring of the Perimetral Av. which will conduct the freight from all the country directly to the different ports in Guayaquil.
The solution to the road-connection is the "Cruce Sur" bridge, which is expected to conduct most of the traffic going from the Perimetral Av. to the private and public ports of Guayaquil by using the new road-link. The "Cruce Sur" bridge will alleviate the traffic of several roads of the urban and state zones of Guayas. Additionally, this project will allow to reduce the operative costs for the users resulting in important savings for the region and well as resulting in the improvement of the port services of Guayaquil.
