The city of Pekanbaru, as the capital of Riau Province, is currently active of carrying out physical development that has implications for land functions and population density. The average population growth is 3.4% per year. The population growth should be accompanied by an increase public services, including water supply services. Whereas coverage of drinking water services in Pekanbaru City in 2014 with a piping system only reached 7.4% served by PDAM Kota Pekanbaru (PDAM Performance, BPPSPAM 2015). Most people rely on groundwater as a source of drinking water. To achieve the 2015-2019 RPJMN target, where is the coverage of drinking water services throughout Indonesia in 2019 must have reached 100%, the Government of Pekanbaru City welcomes the proposed cooperation in drinking water sector projects.
