The ELETROACRE is a privately held company controlled by Centrais Elétricas Brasileiras S.A. - Eletrobrás. It operates throughout the state of Acre (in North region of Brazil) and provides electricity distribution services.
The company serves 22 municipalities in Acre, with 164,222 square kilometers of physical concession area, covering 242,693 consumption units.
ELETROACRE's concession contract expired in October 2015 and the concession was not extended. The Brazilian government then decided to resume the company's privatization, along with privatization processes in the other distribution companies of Eletrobrás Group, in order to allow Eletrobrás to concentrate solely on the energy generation and transmission sectors, for which it would be better focused.
